Class overview

At Heritage Christian Daycare Center our Preschool Program offers many things for the growing preschool child. Our Pre-School teachers combine learning opportunities along with free-play & structured-play in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Our well-balanced program focuses on a child’s imagination and curiosity for learning, to help foster the child’s “Love for Learning”. Offering far more than just child care, our program helps children discover, explore and learn to their fullest potential.

Curriculum

Our curriculum includes weekly themed units that encourage your child’s curiosity and increases confidence through teacher directed and child self-directed activities. Children will engage in activities that promote:

All Preschool children will work on mastering the following skills:

  • Holds pencil correctly
  • Writing & identifying all the letters of the alphabet correctly
  • Recognizes and writes their name correctly
  • Recognizes that all alphabet letters have a phonetic sound
  • Counting 1 – 20 in English
  • Counting 1 – 10 in Spanish
  • Identifies a triangle, rectangle, square, circle, oval, diamond, heart, star, trapezoid and octagon
  • Can draw the following shapes: Triangle, rectangle, square, circle and oval
  • Can identify colors in both English & Spanish: Red, orange, yellow,
    green, blue, purple, pink, brown, black, and white
  • Can follow 1 – 2 step directions (ex: get a pencil and sit at the table)
  • Enjoys circle time and can sit for at least 10 minutes
  • Holds scissors correctly
  • Talks in full clear sentences
  • Displays manners in the classroom such as: Saying please, thank you, excuse me, and can take turns.
  • Talks respectfully to the teacher and fellow classmates.
